About Nrityadhee

A House Built on Discipline, Devotion & Dance

Nrityadhee is more than a dance academy — it is a sanctuary for the Jaipur Gharana, a meeting ground for tradition and modern expression.

Born of Friendship
and a Shared Lineage

Nrityadhee was founded by two artists whose paths converged in the rehearsal halls of Jaipur — Surbhi Verma and Priyasha Jain. Both MA-qualified Kathak dancers, both shaped by the same Guru lineage, both believing that classical dance does not belong only to the stage; it belongs to the everyday life of those who love it.

From late-night practices to early-morning performances, the two co-founders carried a single quiet conviction: the rigour of the Jaipur Gharana could be passed on without losing its breath — to children, professionals, homemakers, anyone willing to listen to its rhythm.

Nrityadhee is the architecture of that conviction.

Three Pillars of Practice

🪔

Tradition First

Every student begins with the foundations of the Jaipur Gharana — Tatkaar, Thaat, Aamd. The vocabulary of Kathak is taught as it has been for generations.

🎼

Discipline of Form

Crisp footwork, clean chakkars, precise rhythm. Technique is not optional — it is the body's language for what the heart wants to say.

🌸

Modern Expression

Once the form is in the body, the dancer is free. Semi-classical, Bollywood and Folk repertoire allow our students to take the tradition into the world.

🤝

Open to All

Beginner or advanced, child or adult, online or in-studio — the academy holds space for anyone willing to commit to the practice.

Rooted in the
Jaipur Gharana

The Jaipur Gharana is one of the oldest schools of Kathak — known for its powerful tatkaar (footwork), explosive chakkars (spins), mathematical precision in laya (rhythm), and an unflinching devotion to the dance as a spiritual discipline.

Both founders trained under Mrs. Shweta Garg at the India International Institute of Kathak Dance & Music (IIIKDM), Jaipur — and Priyasha further refined her practice under Mr. Sanjeev Kumawat at Sangeet Ashram. Every class at Nrityadhee carries the imprint of these Gurus.

"We are not introducing anything new. We are passing forward what was given to us — with the same care it was given."

The Vision

To make the discipline of classical Kathak — and the joy of Indian dance more broadly — accessible to every household in India, without diluting a single note of the tradition. From a single studio in Jaipur to a pan-India presence, Nrityadhee is being built one class, one student, one performance at a time.
