MA Kathak · Scholar of the Year 2022 · Co-Founder
A devoted classicist trained at three of India's most respected institutions — bringing the rigour of Bhatkhande, the breadth of Gandharva and the discipline of the Jaipur Gharana into a single thoughtful practice.
Priyasha Jain is an MA-qualified Kathak dancer with one of the most well-rounded academic backgrounds in classical Indian dance. She holds an MA in Kathak from Bhatkhande University, Lucknow — and a BA from Gandharva University, Mumbai — two of India's most respected names in performing arts education.
Alongside her formal degrees, she trained intensively under Mrs. Shweta Garg at the India International Institute of Kathak Dance & Music (IIIKDM), where she was honoured as Scholar of the Year 2022 — and under Mr. Sanjeev Kumawat at Sangeet Ashram, deepening her grounding in the Jaipur Gharana.
"The Gharana doesn't ask for talent. It asks for time, patience and trust."
As co-founder of Nrityadhee, Priyasha brings a teacher's eye to every class — a devotion to laya (rhythm), abhinaya (expression), and the quiet, unglamorous repetition that classical dance demands of its students.
The Jaipur Gharana repertoire — Thaat, Aamd, Chakkardar Paran, Tihai, Kavit, Ladi — taught with the same rigour she received from her own Gurus.
A deep grounding in rhythm, tihai mathematics, and composition — drawn from the Bhatkhande tradition and refined under Mr. Sanjeev Kumawat.
The expressive face of Kathak — bhajans, thumris and abhinaya pieces. Bringing emotional depth to the precision of classical movement.
A patient, methodical teacher — known for shaping students with attention to detail, posture, and the quieter aspects of classical training.
